Author:
Before selecting a thermocouple, we need to address the following questions: 1) What is the temperature range you wish to measure, and what are the upper and lower limits?
2) What object do you plan to measure the temperature of? The first question will help you categorize your application.
3) How does the measurement environment affect the type of thermocouple I use? Before installing the selected thermocouple, ensure that it meets the following conditions:
a) Appropriate temperature range
b) Chemical corrosion resistance of the thermocouple or sheath material (for probes with a sheath)
c) If necessary, ensure proper grounding (when used with a grounded, sheathed probe, many instruments can exhibit ground-loop issues).
d) Wear-resistant
e) Vibration resistance
f) Immersion
