Underfloor heating and cooling systems are a form of central heating and cooling that achieve indoor climate control for thermal comfort through conduction, radiation, and convection.
Modern underfloor heating systems heat floors using resistive elements (“electrical systems”) or a fluid circulating through pipes (“hydronic systems”). Both types can be installed as the primary heating system for an entire building or as localized floor‑heating solutions to enhance thermal comfort. Some systems allow individual rooms to be heated as part of a larger multi‑room system, thereby minimizing energy waste. Resistive systems are suitable only for heating; when space cooling is also required, hydronic systems must be used. Additional applications for electrical or hydronic systems include snow and ice melting for walkways, driveways, and landing areas, turf maintenance on soccer fields and football pitches, and frost protection for freezers and ice rinks. Suitable for relatively humid environments, with an IP68 rating (when installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions).
