Advantages of non-contact temperature measurement: The upper limit of measurement is not constrained by the temperature resistance of the sensing element, so in principle there is no limit to the maximum measurable temperature. For temperatures above 1800°C, non-contact methods are predominantly employed. With advances in infrared technology, radiative thermometry has progressively expanded from the visible spectrum into the infrared range, and is now widely used for temperatures below 700°C up to ambient conditions, offering very high resolution.
